Two New International Artists Announced
10th Anniversary Event
Pure Reggae Line-up
Bob Marley’s son Julian Marley and Jamaican reggae fusion artist Diana King have joined the pure reggae line-up for Raggamuffin X – the tenth anniversary of New Zealand’s premier reggae festival.
Julian Marley will feature with The Wailers and Family Man performing a 100 per cent Bob Marley set at Raggamuffin X on Saturday 18 February 2017 at The Trusts Arena in Auckland.
Julian and Diana join a staggering line-up of reggae artists for Raggamuffin X. Headlined by crowd pleasers Six60 and reggae icon Shaggy, the tenth anniversary of the festival also features Ky-Mani Marley with Gentleman, 2016 Grammy Award winners Morgan Heritage, and powerhouse Jamaican singer Etana.
Born in 1975, Julian Marley recorded his first song at the Marley home in Kingston, Jamaica at the age of five and released his debut album ‘Uprising’ when he was just 14. He’s worked with reggae veterans including Aston ‘Family Man’ Barrett. He collaborated with brothers Stephen and Ziggy and the Ghetto Youths International production team recording at the Marley Music Studio in Kingston where his father created some of his most important and well-known work.
Diana King first performed at Raggamuffin in February this year and was a firm favourite with the crowd performing well-known hits including Shy Guy and Say A Little Prayer. Her debut album ‘Tougher Than Love’ and her follow-up album ‘Think Like A Girl’ were both number 1 Billboard reggae albums in the United States.
Raggamuffin is the largest reggae festival in the Southern Hemisphere. In recent years the festival has included urban and hip hop acts, but for the tenth anniversary it has returned to its reggae roots and sought out top artists to celebrate the milestone.
Alongside Six60, New Zealand bands highlighted at Raggamuffin X include The Black Seeds and Kiwi reggae legends Herbs. Salmonella Dub, House of Shem, Foundation, Common Unity and Lomez Brown with Jamaica’s Conkarah, and Hawaii’s Kiwini and Jah Maoli completing the line-up.
Last year the Raggamuffin Village was expanded to offer more variety and for 2017, a second stage will be in the village offering additional music options.
VIP and VVIP tickets are also available for Raggamuffin X. VIP tickets give concert goers dedicated entry, access to the VIP Chill Deck with dedicated bar and toilet facilities and a seat in the covered grandstand. VVIP tickets provide all the VIP advantages as well as an exclusive VVIP area, $50 pre-loaded AWOP card (valid at all bars and outlets), merchandise shirt and cap, an onstage experience with the Raggamuffin promoter and a side of stage experience during the Festival.
Raggamuffin X is strictly R18.
